I feed my dogs refrigerated raw food, but to make it convenient and easy for my puppy families, I suggest to all of them to get a new fabulous freeze dried raw food that I love as it has the ease of a kibble but is not a kibble; it doesn't need to be stored in a fridge or a freezer, but in your pantry; it is human grade, grassfed, wild caught, with organic ingredients; it has minimal carbs, no un-digestible grains, no wheat, no corn, no soy, no glutten, no fillers, no artificial preservatives, and no synthetic vitamins, or high-temp processing, therefore making it a very healthy and easy food to store and prepare (it is great for traveling too).
A Simple Food Project has 6 different types of food that are great to rotate throughout the year (for variety), plus smaller-sized nuggets for young puppies and a whole-food Puppy Balancer powder that should be sprinkled on top.
Just add some water to the meal, wait a moment, and voilà: BON APPÉTIT !

FEEDING & BUYING TIPS:
- For your new puppy, start with 3 meals a day of about 1/3 cup of food per meal, with 1/2 tsp of Puppy Balancer per meal.
- At 4/6 months, you can move to 2 meals a day of about 1/2 cup of food per meal with 1/2 tsp of Puppy Balancer per meal.
- At 1 year old, you can feed just the food. Depending on the size of your dog, you will probably be feeding 2/3 cup twice a day.
For very young puppies, I soak the food overnight and mash it with a fork; by 3 months, 10 minutes is good enough for rehydration.
Some puppies are turned off if you put too much water... You could also use goat milk when very young, or dog bone broth (not human broth, as loaded with toxic salt and onions).
Know that Cavaliers usually have a low metabolism, so you usually end up with a bit less than the recommended amount. Take into consideration that you would be feeding treats. Also, my puppies' parents are all around 16 pounds at the most, so if you reach 18 pounds, start questioning the amount you are feeding your dog, as a heavy dog is doomed to have health problems.
ORDERING:
The first time you order on THE SIMPLE FOOD PROJECT website, you will get a 15 percent discount with the code WELCOME15, so you might want to order a lot of the small nuggets, the biggest size of Puppy Balancer powder (17.63oz), and make use of that added autoship discount that you can always adjust later.
Remember to rotate the different kinds of food as variety is great for your dog.
When your puppy is about 4 to 6 months old, you can buy the tad cheaper regular-sized nuggets (288oz bulk pack/18 pounds) on AMAZON or CHEWY--I see special deals all the time.
